ReplyDeleteTopics that offer the most exploration include: "deviating from social norms, the missing piece, outsider looking in." I think these are deeply personal topics and you would handle them with grace and dignity.
Questions that play well into these topics are:
"Why do we all yearn for that feeling of acceptance?"
"Why do some people pretend to be something that they’re not?"
The interesting implication you are making is that even people who seem to be in the "in-crowd" are actually yearning to be accepted, and may actually feel like outsiders. That's interesting because we try to think of "cool kids" as different and perfect, but in reality, they are just like us.
I love that you can think of this topic in shades of grey. Your statements "Sense of belonging is about being who you are, Sense of belonging is about who you are not" makes so much sense even though it is a paradox.
When you wrote "Sense of belonging is about reaching out to others" I think you really hit something that ties all of this together.
What will you make??!
